Vechernyaya ("Evening") is one of Belarus's Antarctic research stations, operating under a program that has kept Belarusian scientists active on the continent since the early 2000s — a point of considerable national prestige for a landlocked country with no maritime tradition. Belarus established its Antarctic presence largely through inherited Soviet scientific infrastructure and bilateral agreements with Russia, which still provides logistical support for the station.
