Additional information

Belarus issued a series of silver coins in the early 2010s dedicated to partner dances, of which this is one piece. The tango itself originated in the working-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and Montevideo in the late 19th century, drawing from African candombe rhythms, Cuban habanera, and the milonga — a hybrid that the Argentine upper classes initially found scandalous before European adoption reversed that stigma entirely.

The .925 specification and 28.28g weight place this squarely in the global commemorative silver standard pioneered by the Royal Mint and widely adopted for collector issues from the 1990s onward.
