| 正面描述 | The left portion of the obverse field features a mirror-polished dark background bearing the state coat of arms of the Republic of Belarus at upper centre, depicting the traditional emblem with sun rays, clover, flax, and wheat ears encircled by a ribbon. Below the arms, the Belarusian-language country name РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ is inscribed in two lines, with the date 2014 beneath. The right portion of the field is rendered in contrasting frosted silver and depicts, in stylised relief, the silhouette of a soldier's profile facing left, evoking remembrance of the war's human cost. To the right of the silhouette, the denomination 20 РУБЛЁЎ and the fineness mark Ag 925 are inscribed in the field. |

Belarus issued this coin as part of a broader commemorative program marking the centenary of the First World War — a conflict that struck the territory of modern Belarus with particular ferocity. The Eastern Front cut directly through the region, and by 1915 the German advance had displaced roughly 3 million civilians in what became known as the Great Retreat. Entire communities were forcibly evacuated by Russian Imperial authorities who feared leaving anything useful behind.
KM#465 is one of several National Bank issues from the 2014 centenary series, each addressing a distinct theater or theme of the war.
