| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts an iconographic scene of the Baptism of Rus, rendered in a stylized medieval relief, showing a hierarch performing the baptismal rite over a multitude of figures emerging from stylized waves, with a nimbed saint standing to the right. The Belarusian state emblem appears at the top of the legend border. The circular legend along the periphery reads the country name and denomination, with the silver fineness mark Ag 925 inscribed in the lower right field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
This piece belongs to Belarus's long-running Orthodox saints series, which the National Bank has used since the early 2000s to assert cultural and religious identity in the post-Soviet space. Vladimir I — baptized around 988 AD — oversaw the Christianization of Kievan Rus by decree, reportedly after sending envoys to evaluate the faiths of neighboring powers and rejecting Islam partly on the grounds that it prohibited alcohol.
KM#499 is a collector issue; it never circulated.
