Belarus launched an extensive wildlife series in the 2000s aimed squarely at the collector market, with individual issues rarely exceeding a few thousand pieces. The embedded Swarovski crystal element was a deliberate commercial decision — Belarusian mint officials were watching similar novelty issues from Kazakhstan and other post-Soviet states find ready buyers in European collector markets and responded in kind.
