Belarus has issued commemorative silver coins themed around folk lullabies since the early 2000s, part of a broader National Bank program documenting intangible cultural heritage through numismatic series. This piece belongs to that tradition. The series has drawn on ethnographic research into regional Belarusian song, some of it recorded in the field during the Soviet period and preserved in academic archives.
KM#769 is among the more recent additions, struck at a time when the National Bank's commemorative program continued operating despite the severe economic and political pressures following the 2020 disputed presidential election and subsequent international sanctions.
