Belarus has issued commemorative silver under the "Liberation" theme repeatedly since the early 2000s, marking the 1944 Soviet offensive that drove German forces from the territory in ten weeks of sustained fighting. The 2024 date places this piece at the 80th anniversary of that campaign, known formally as Operation Bagration — one of the largest Soviet military operations of the entire war, involving over 2.3 million troops and resulting in the near-total destruction of German Army Group Centre.
