The Eurasian Economic Union formally came into force on January 1, 2015, uniting Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan under a single economic bloc — making this issue essentially a commemorative struck within months of the treaty's entry into effect. Belarus has been an enthusiastic producer of commemorative silver in this period, and the National Bank issued numerous collector pieces tied to regional political developments throughout the 2010s.
