| Obverse description | The State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus appears in high relief at the top of the obverse, encircled by the Cyrillic legend РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (Republic of Belarus) along the upper periphery. The central field features a detailed architectural reconstruction of the fortified medieval castle of ancient Novogorodok (modern Novogrudok), rendered in fine relief. Below the castle, the denomination 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 Rubles) is inscribed, with the year of issue 2008 and the alloy fineness mark Ag 925 positioned to the right. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features a central relief portrait of Davyd of Garadzen, the celebrated Belarusian military commander and defender of Grodno. To the left of the portrait, an impression of a pendant seal used for official charters bears the image of Prince Dovmont Nalshansky (who ruled under the Christian name Timofey and is considered by some historians to be the father of Davyd of Garadzen). The circumferential Cyrillic legend ДАВЫД ГАРАДЗЕНСКІ (Davyd of Garadzen) runs around the design, accompanied by the dates of his service 1314–1326. |
