Belarusian State University, founded in 1921, is the country's oldest and largest university — its centennial in 2021 prompted a modest run of commemorative issues of which this is one. BSU was established by Soviet decree as part of a broader push to institutionalize higher education across the newly consolidated republics, opening its doors in Minsk with fewer than 200 students.
