| Additional information |
Belarus issued a substantial commemorative silver program in the lead-up to the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, of which this ice hockey piece forms one entry. The series reflects the country's genuine investment in winter sport — Belarus had qualified for Olympic ice hockey and carried real competitive expectations, having upset Sweden at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games in one of the more surprising results in tournament history.
