Obverse description Central field features a raised rectangular panel depicting the Cambodian national flag, with the silhouette of Angkor Wat rendered in low relief at its centre. The legend STATE OF CAMBODIA arcs along the upper periphery in incuse Latin lettering, while the denomination 20 RIELS is inscribed in two lines across the lower field. The mirror-like proof fields provide strong contrast against the satin-finished design elements.

Additional information

Issued under Norodom Sihanouk following his restoration to the throne in 1993 after two decades of exile, civil war, and the Khmer Rouge period — a stretch during which Cambodian coinage had essentially ceased to exist as a meaningful institution. The Monoclonius series belongs to a wave of silver commemoratives produced for the international collector market in the 1990s, not for domestic circulation.

Cambodia had no meaningful mint infrastructure of its own; these pieces were struck abroad under contract.
