Obverse description Printed in dark brown on a light ground, the obverse carries a portrait of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi at right within a plain border, set against an intricate guilloche underprint. To the left, a central vignette presents an ornamental rosette with a stylised phoenix, flanked by two vertical panels each bearing a standing ancient Persian figure in relief-style engraving.
