Harrison & Sons printed multiple generations of Iranian banknotes, and the 20 Rials series went through subtle but catalogued plate variations — the 'dark panel' designation distinguishes this signature-era printing from lighter-inked versions of the same design, a distinction that matters more in dealer pricing than in any official typology. The difference is real but was never formally acknowledged by Bank Markazi.
P#84 sits within a series issued well before the 1979 revolution forced a wholesale redesign of Iranian currency. Notes from this period circulated heavily and survivors in undamaged condition are less common than their mintage figures might suggest.
