| Obverse description | Youthful draped bust of Queen Isabella II facing right, her hair dressed in loose curls and gathered at the crown with a decorative floral ornament. The effigy is rendered in a neoclassical style engraved by Mariano González de Sepúlveda. The circumferential legend reads ISABEL 2A. POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS., with the date 1836 positioned in the exergue below the bust. The entire design is bordered by a fine milled edge of raised beads. |

| Reverse description | The quartered royal coat of arms of Spain occupies the central field, displaying castles for Castile and rampant lions for León in alternate quarters, with a central escutcheon bearing the Bourbon fleur-de-lis. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by the denomination 20 to the left and RS. to the right. A wreath of floral sprays encircles the arms, and the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece is suspended below. The mint mark M and assayer initials C·R· appear at the bottom, within the circumferential legend REYNA DE ESPAÑA Y DE LAS INDIAS. |
