Warriors Day — known in Egypt as the October War anniversary — commemorates the 1973 crossing of the Suez Canal, when Egyptian forces breached the Bar-Lev Line in the opening hours of Operation Badr. The event remains the most politically significant military action in modern Egyptian memory, and annual commemorative coinage marking it was a consistent feature of Sadat-era and post-Sadat mint policy through the 1980s.
