Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra (imperial calligraphic monogram) of Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II, rendered in flowing Arabic calligraphy with characteristic interlaced loops and tall vertical strokes rising from the body of the cipher. The denomination numeral '٢٠' (20) appears in the lower portion of the field, accompanied by the abbreviated denomination legend in Arabic script. The entire design is set within a plain round field with a finely reeded border encircling the coin's edge.
