Obverse description Left-facing bust of King Farouk I wearing a traditional tarboosh (fez) and military dress uniform adorned with epaulettes and decorative chain. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine portraiture detail, engraved by Percy Metcalfe, whose initials 'PM' appear at the lower right of the bust. The Arabic legend to the right reads 'Farouk I' and to the left 'King of Egypt', flanking the portrait on either side of the field. The entire design is bordered by a continuous beaded inner rim.
