The annular field between the inner circle and the outer border is decorated with a continuous chain of double crescent-shaped ornaments linked by rosette studs, creating a distinctive decorative ring. The regnal year in Arabic numerals appears within the design, referencing the year of the Khalifa's reign. The outermost border features a reeded or granulated rim. The overall composition follows the Ottoman-influenced coin design tradition adapted for Mahdist Sudan. |
