Obverse description The bank's heraldic arms appear at upper left and upper right, flanking a central vignette of King's College, Aberdeen, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The denomination £20 is displayed in an ornate guilloche panel at the lower right, with a second serial number printed at lower left beneath the promise-to-pay text. A circular watermark area occupies the left field, and the General Manager's signature appears above the printed title at lower right.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large central medallion containing the full heraldic arms of the North of Scotland Bank, supported by a lion and a stag, set within an elaborate guilloche border. A plain circular watermark area is visible at the right.
