| Obverse description | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the St. Edward's Crown, as engraved by Jody Clark. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a polished field, with two concentric circular legends surrounding the bust. The engraver's initials 'JC' appear below the portrait. The outer legend bears the royal titles in Latin along with the issuing authority and date, while an inner legend carries the Queen's coronation oath in English. |

Alderney's legal tender coinage exists almost entirely as a collector vehicle — the island dependency of Guernsey has no independent monetary authority and issues coins through arrangements that produce pieces never intended for pocket change. This 311-gram kilo-format silver issue is squarely in that tradition, struck to mark Elizabeth II's 70th year on the throne, an anniversary no other British monarch had previously reached.
She died in September 2022, roughly three months after the Jubilee celebrations concluded.
