| Additional information |
Issued to mark the founding of the University of Cyprus, which was established by law in 1989 but did not admit its first students until 1992 — the same year this coin was struck. The institution was a long time coming; Cyprus had sent generations of students abroad for higher education, primarily to Greece and the United Kingdom, for lack of a domestic university.
KM#104 was produced in a limited proof issue and is seldom encountered outside specialist collections of modern Cypriot gold.
