The Bank of Ireland's pound-denominated series was cut short not by policy revision but by inevitability — Ireland joined the eurozone on 1 January 1999, fixing the punt irrevocably against the euro at 0.787564 IEP per EUR. Notes from the later part of this issue date range were already circulating alongside countdown clocks; the punt ceased to be legal tender on 9 February 2002.
Thomas De La Rue's printing for this series is competent but unremarkable by their standards. The security package — thread and watermark — reflects mid-1990s baseline specification rather than anything bespoke to the denomination.
