Obverse description Horizontal format note with a green guilloche underprint at centre, flanked by two intaglio portrait vignettes: an allegorical female figure with a palm branch at left and a second allegorical female figure draped in classical robes at right. The bank title 'THE AUSTRALIAN AND EUROPEAN BANK LIMITED' is inscribed in a curved cartouche at top centre, below which appears a Coat of Arms. The denomination '20' appears in each corner and 'TWENTY' runs along the left and right margins, with ornate lathe-work borders framing the entire note.
