Opmerkingen

La Banque Nationale was a Quebec City institution, one of several French-Canadian chartered banks that maintained parallel French and English text on their notes — hence the bilingual denomination line. The bank survived longer than many of its regional competitors before merging into Banque Canadienne Nationale in 1924, which means 1922 issues were among the last printed under the original name. This note predates that merger by only two years.

The British American Bank Note Company in Ottawa handled security printing for numerous Canadian chartered banks during this period. BABN's engraving quality on chartered bank issues from the early 1920s is generally high, though this particular series is not known for any significant plate varieties or printing anomalies.
