Saccharin-Fabrik AG was the corporate successor to the company founded by Constantin Fahlberg, who discovered saccharin in 1879 while working at Johns Hopkins — famously noticing the sweetness on his hands after a lab session. By the early Weimar inflation years, the Magdeburg-Südost plant was issuing its own notgeld to keep workers paid as the banking system buckled under hyperinflation.
Corporate notgeld from industrial issuers like this one was frequently redeemed only at company facilities, functioning more like scrip than currency. The "vorm." — vormals, meaning "formerly" — in the full corporate name signals the post-Fahlberg reorganization, a detail that helps narrow the issue date to the early 1920s.
