Füllnerwerk was a major glassworks and industrial complex in Warmbrunn (now Cieplice Śląskie-Zdrój, Poland), a spa town in Lower Silesia. This iron notgeld token was almost certainly issued during or shortly after World War I, when the German imperial government's requisitioning of copper and nickel for war production forced hundreds of private employers and municipalities to strike emergency coinage in iron or zinc to meet payroll and local commercial needs.
Factory-issued tokens of this kind typically circulated only within the issuing works and its immediate surroundings, redeemable at company-affiliated shops.
