| Beschrijving voorzijde | Pearl border encircles the entire field, with a circular legend reading WOHLTÄTIGKEITS= & PFLEGEANSTALT around the periphery. The denomination numeral '20' is boldly struck in the centre of the field, with the place name REICHEN / BACH arranged below in two lines, flanked by star-shaped ornaments. A small circular hole pierces the field above the numeral, consistent with the token's holed format. |

The Barmherzige Brüder — Brothers of Mercy — operated hospital and care facilities across German-speaking Europe, and their institutions occasionally issued internal token coinage to manage transactions within closed wards, restricting patient access to outside currency. The Reichenbach house served both charitable and custodial functions, and zinc was the default wartime substitute material when brass and nickel became strategically restricted, placing this piece almost certainly in the 1914–1918 window.
