| Beschrijving keerzijde | Identical in design to the obverse: an outer dentilated rim surrounds a raised pearl circle, within which the large denomination numeral '20' is prominently struck in the centre of the field. The abbreviated issuer legend encircles the space between the dentilated rim and the pearl border, with a five-pointed star at the base serving as a text divider. The uniformity of both faces reflects the functional, utilitarian character of this factory-issued emergency token. |

Maschinenfabrik Rheinland A.G. was one of the heavy industrial concerns anchoring the Düsseldorf manufacturing belt during the Weimar-era notgeld period, when chronic small-change shortages forced private employers to issue their own token coinage for use in factory canteens and wage payments. Zinc was the material of necessity — copper and nickel were either strategically restricted or economically prohibitive in the early 1920s.
The Menzel reference numbers place this firmly in the documented factory notgeld corpus, though surviving examples in unworn condition are scarcer than the major municipal issues.
