Additional information

The Bremer Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft, founded in 1877, operated the major bonded warehouses and free-port storage facilities along Bremen's harbor. During and immediately after World War I, the Reich's requisitioning of metals gutted the small-change supply across Germany, pushing hundreds of industrial firms, municipalities, and transit operators to issue their own iron or zinc notgeld tokens simply to make payroll and canteen transactions function. This piece is one such issue — iron by necessity, not preference, circulating only within the company's own labor ecosystem.
