| Obverse description | Olive-green tinted note with a central vignette of the Tondern municipal coat of arms — a red brick tower above a golden shield bearing two rampant blue lions — framed by oak branch sprays. The denomination '20' appears in large blackletter numerals at upper left and right, flanked by the bilingual legends 'Pfennig' (German) and 'Penning' (Danish) in ornate script. An oval cartouche at the top centre reads 'PLEBISCIT SLESVIG', referencing the 1920 Schleswig plebiscite, while validity clauses in both German and Danish appear in the lower lateral fields, with the issuing authority, date '10.
