Reverse description The copper-nickel centre displays a frontal depiction of Xiuhtecuhtli, the Aztec god of fire and time, shown in ceremonial regalia and performing the New Fire ritual, rendered in a style inspired by pre-Columbian iconography. The central motif is enclosed within an ornamental circular border. The surrounding brass ring carries the inscriptions 'FUEGO NUEVO', the mint mark 'Mo', the denomination '$20', the deity's name 'XIUHTECUHTLI', and the legend 'AÑO' followed by the year of issue.
