Obverse description Central vignette of Mt. Mayon within an ornate frame, with a black vertical overprint at left and a blue treasury seal at lower right. The note carries extensive English-language text certifying the deposit of twenty silver pesos in the Treasury of the Philippine Islands, printed by intaglio in a style consistent with contemporary U.S. currency production.
Obverse lettering SILVER CERTIFICATE BY AUTHORITY OF AN ACT OF THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA APPROVED FEB. 6, 1905 THIS CERTIFIES THAT THERE HAVE BEEN DEPOSITED IN THE TREASURY OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS TWENTY SILVER PESOS PAYABLE TO THE BEARER IN DEMAND SILVER CERTIFICATE SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE ACT OF CONGRESS APPROVED JUNE 23, 1906 20
Reverse description The Arms of the Philippine Islands rendered as a central oval vignette within an elaborate guilloche border, surrounded by foliate and floral decorative elements. The denomination numeral 20 appears in each corner, with the text SILVER CERTIFICATE repeated at upper left and right. The entire design is executed in a warm golden-brown intaglio print.
