Obverse description Central intaglio vignette of Mt. Mayon volcano rising above a tropical landscape with palm trees, captioned MT. MAYON below; the word PHILIPPINES in large ornate lettering arches above the vignette, with the denomination TWENTY PESOS on a banner scroll at the foot. A circular red seal of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, inscribed UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and reading MANILA, PHILIPPINES, appears to the right, with two manuscript signatures — President and Treasurer — at lower left, flanked by guilloche corner ornaments bearing the numeral 20.

Reverse description Printed entirely in orange-gold on an elaborate guilloche underprint, the reverse centres on an oval vignette of the Philippine Commonwealth arms — an eagle above a quartered shield — within a scalloped frame flanked by laurel and palm branches. Numeral 20 appears in each corner within scrollwork cartouches, and the denomination TWENTY PESOS is rendered in bold letterpress across the lower panel.
