| Opmerkingen |
Banco Solanas y Cía. was one of several short-lived private commercial banks that briefly operated in Bolivia during the liberal banking experiment of the 1870s, before the government moved to tighten control over note issuance. These institutions operated under minimal oversight, and their notes circulated primarily in regional markets rather than nationally — confidence in any given bank's paper rarely extended far beyond its immediate commercial relationships.
PS#1918 is rare by any measure. Most private Bolivian bank issues of this period survived in tiny quantities, if at all, partly because the banks themselves folded quickly and redemption was uneven at best.
