Issued as part of Banco de México's ongoing bimetallic commemorative 20 Pesos program, this piece marks the bilateral relationship between Mexico and the United States — a pairing that has generated political friction at nearly every decade since the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ceded roughly half of Mexico's territory to its northern neighbor.
