| Reverse description | The nickel brass centre presents a stylised portrait bust of Emiliano Zapata Salazar facing slightly left, wearing his characteristic wide-brimmed sombrero, with the revolutionary motto TIERRA Y LIBERTAD inscribed across the hat brim. A figure of a campesino ploughing with an ox is depicted in the lower left field, accompanied by radiating lines suggestive of sunrise, evoking agrarian reform. A latent image security feature appears as a rectangular element to the right of the portrait. The denomination $20 is prominently displayed in large numerals at the bottom of the centre, flanked by the commemorative dates 1919 and 2019 marking the centenary of Zapata's death.
