| Rückseitenbeschreibung | The central vignette, framed by an ornate guilloche border, illustrates the assault on the Moncada Barracks in fine intaglio line work executed in blue-violet tones, with armed figures storming a fortified structure. The caption 'ASALTO AL CUARTEL MONCADA' runs along the lower edge of the vignette, and the denomination numeral '20' appears at left and lower right against a light guilloche underprint. The legend 'REPÚBLICA DE CUBA' and 'VEINTE PESOS' are printed across the upper portion of the note. |

| Anmerkungen |
The Moncada Barracks assault of 26 July 1953 — Fidel Castro's failed attack on the Santiago de Cuba garrison — became the founding myth of the Cuban Revolution, and the revolutionary government subsequently named both its mass political organization and the broader ideological movement after that date. The fiftieth anniversary in 2003 was treated as a major state occasion, prompting this commemorative emission alongside official ceremonies.
Cuban commemorative notes of this period are notorious for being pulled from circulation almost immediately after release, either absorbed by the tourist peso economy or simply hoarded. Genuinely circulated examples are harder to find than their print runs would suggest.
