Entre Ríos was one of several Argentine provinces that issued its own quasi-currency during the 2001–2002 financial collapse, when the federal government froze bank accounts and a severe cash shortage paralyzed daily commerce. These provincial notes — generically called "patacones" in popular usage, though that name strictly belongs to Buenos Aires province — functioned as a parallel circulating medium, accepted for taxes and provincial government transactions but treated with varying suspicion by private retailers.
The PS# reference being unassigned suggests this piece hasn't been formally catalogued in the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, which isn't unusual for the provincial emergency issues of that crisis — many were documented poorly and some denominations remain underrepresented in major collections.
