Cuba's relationship with Státní Tiskárna Cenin — the Czechoslovak state security printer — began in the early 1960s as the island's political realignment cut off access to Western printers. STC handled Cuban banknote production for decades, and their work on the P#105 series is competent if conservative, reflecting Eastern Bloc printing norms rather than the more elaborate intaglio work that Western security printers were producing in the same period.
The nineteen-year date span on this series is unusually long for a single design run, suggesting the Cuban government saw little urgency to redesign while the broader economy remained state-controlled and dollarized transactions were illegal.
