| 裏面の説明 | Three finely detailed ears of wheat are depicted rising from a common stem on the right side of the field, their grain heads rendered with naturalistic precision and their stalks gracefully curved at the base. To the left, the face value is presented in two lines, with the large numeral '20' above and the denomination 'PESOS' in smaller capitals below. The composition is clean and uncluttered, with the agricultural motif symbolizing Uruguay's agrarian economy. |

Issued during a period of acute economic deterioration in Uruguay, this coin appeared just as the Tupamaros guerrilla movement was at its most disruptive and inflation was beginning to spiral beyond government control. Within a few years, denomination values like this one would become practically meaningless in daily commerce. Uruguay would eventually abandon the peso entirely in 1975, redenominating at 1,000 to 1 with the introduction of the nuevo peso.
