Anmerkungen

Philippine guerrilla currency issued under Japanese occupation is a sprawling field, but the Negros issues stand out for their organizational seriousness. The Free Negros Military Currency Committee operated under the authority of the 7th Military District, part of the broader guerrilla command structure that maintained functional civil and military administration on Negros throughout most of the occupation — something not every Philippine island managed.

Printed locally under wartime conditions with whatever materials were available, the S716 series was legal tender within the guerrilla-controlled zones and used to pay troops and procure supplies. The U.S. Army later honored many Philippine guerrilla currency obligations after liberation in 1945, though the redemption process was contested and not all series received equal treatment.
