正面描述 The note is printed in olive-brown ink on plain paper with a decorative guilloche border framing the entire face. The heading "REPUBLICA DE VENEZUELA" is set in bold letterpress at centre top, below which the decree legend reads "Decreto del Poder Ejecutivo de 2 de Agosto de 1860"; the denomination "$20" appears in large numerals at left and right, with "$1.000.000" printed beneath the central text block. Three manuscript signature lines are present in the lower portion, attributed to the Secretario de Hacienda, the Contador General, and the Tesorero, along with a handwritten date and place of issue.

备注

Venezuela's 1860 banking period was chaotic by any measure. The República de Venezuela had only recently consolidated authority over note issuance following decades of political fragmentation, and paper money from this period circulated against a backdrop of chronic fiscal instability and persistent public preference for hard coin. The 20 Pesos denomination placed this note well above everyday transactional use — it would have moved through merchant and government hands, not market stalls.

Pick 22 is genuinely rare in any condition. Surviving examples are few enough that auction appearances are infrequent, and the paper of this period was not made to last.
