Obverse description Bare-headed youthful effigy of King Alfonso XIII facing right, depicted as a child with naturalistically rendered short hair and a truncated bust, engraved in high relief in the neoclassical portrait style. The engraver's initials appear below the bust truncation. The circular legend reads ALFONSO XIII POR LA G. DE DIOS along the upper and lateral periphery, with the mint date 1889 prominently placed in the lower exergual area flanked by two six-pointed stars bearing the assayer initials. A fine beaded border frames the entire obverse field.
