Jersey's 1982 definitive series replaced the previous decimal coinage and was produced at the Royal Mint. The Corbière lighthouse, completed in 1874, was the first concrete lighthouse built in the British Isles — a practical engineering choice for the exposed rock causeway southwest of St. Brelade where previous lights had repeatedly failed to survive Atlantic weather.
