Additional information

The Isle of Man has long issued its own coinage independently of the Royal Mint, with the Treasury commissioning distinct local reverses that change with unusual frequency compared to most British dependencies. The 4th portrait of Elizabeth II — Raphael Maklouf's effigy replaced by Ian Rank-Broadley's — was adopted across the British Isles from 1998 onward, making this a transitional-year issue in the Manx series.
