| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field occupied by the elaborate tuğra of Sultan Mahmud II rendered in flowing calligraphic style, set within a plain inner circle. Below the tuğra, the mint name and regnal year appear in Arabic numerals and script, reading 'Struck in Baghdad 1223.' The entire design is enclosed by a beaded border running along the coin's periphery. The hammered flan displays characteristic irregular surfaces typical of early nineteenth-century Ottoman provincial coinage. |
