| Obverse description | The elaborate tughra (imperial cipher) of Sultan Mahmud II occupies the central field, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with interlocking loops, ascending shafts, and sweeping curved baseline. The monogram is boldly struck and fills the majority of the flan. The design is contained within a beaded inner circle, itself enclosed by an outer decorative border of alternating beads and geometric motifs. |
