| Obverse description | The obverse displays the elaborate Ottoman tughra (imperial cipher) of Sultan Abdülmecid I, rendered in the traditional calligraphic style with sweeping loops and vertical strokes rising above the central monogram. The tughra occupies the majority of the coin's field, set against a plain copper surface now showing considerable patina and wear. Below the tughra, the regnal year notation in Arabic numerals is partially visible within the lower field. The overall design is characteristic of mid-19th century Ottoman coinage struck at Constantinople. |

| Reverse description | The reverse of this host coin, a Turkish 20 Para (KM-668.1, AH1255 year 16), bears the Greek countermark ΣΑ applied as one or possibly two separate punched marks. The countermark, consisting of the Greek capital letters Sigma (Σ) and Alpha (Α), was applied by Greek authorities to validate and authorize the coin for circulation within Greek-controlled territories during the late 19th or early 20th century. The underlying Ottoman reverse design, featuring Arabic legends denoting the regnal year and mint, remains partially discernible beneath the countermark. The surface exhibits heavy wear and patina consistent with extensive circulation. |
