Obverse description The obverse displays the elaborate tughra of Ottoman Sultan Abdülaziz, rendered in the traditional calligraphic style, occupying the central field of the coin. The tughra, with its characteristic looping scrollwork and vertical strokes, is surrounded by Arabic inscriptions. The numeral ٤ (4) appears below the tughra, denoting the regnal year. The entire design is enclosed within a toothed or beaded border typical of Ottoman copper coinage of this period. The surface shows the heavy patination and wear consistent with a circulated copper host coin that subsequently received a countermark.
